When I killed the old man (King Laius), I kept on walking and headed toward the land of Thebes. At the gateway of Thebes i encountered a Sphinx. The Sphinx killed alot of people, there was dead bodies all over the floor. The Sphinx said that I was going to be asked a riddle, if I answered correctly id be free to go and defeat the Sphinx, but if I answer wrong it will kill me. So the Sphinx asked the riddle. I ended up answering the riddle correctly and defeated the Sphinx. The people of Thebes thought of me as a hero and crowned me there king. I was a hero to them because since Laius was dead, the Sphinx was picking on the people of Thebes. I felt powerful, heroic, and intelligent since i defeated the Sphinx.
